PRE-CARE / AFTER-CARE

NEUROMODULAR INJECTIONS

Please arrive to your appointment with a clean face. If your appointment is after work, expect your makeup to be removed in the areas to be treated.

Pre-Care

To minimize potential bruising with facial injections, we recommend the following:

  • Stop over the counter medication and herbal supplements that have an effect on thinning your blood 5-7 days prior to your appointment. This includes fish oils, omegas, vitamin E, vitamin A, gingko biloba and even garlic. Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Aleve, Motrin) and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) .
  • DO NOT STOP prescribed medications such as warfarin/coumadin or Plavix.
  • Avoid alcohol 72 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Get your exercise in for the day before your appointment.

After-Care

It usually takes 3-14 days for the results of your treatment to take effect. It is possible that during this time you may notice some mild unevenness as some muscles take a longer period of time to adjust to the medication than others. It is important to wait 2 FULL WEEKS to evaluate the outcome of your treatment and refine if needed. Please ensure to book a follow up appointment 2 weeks after your treatment.

To minimize the risk of infection after puncturing the skin, we recommend the following:

  • Do not rub or touch the injected area for the remainder of the day.
  • Do not re-apply makeup in the area for the remainder of the day.
  • Cleanse your face as usual before bed. Avoid exfoliators such as AHA's, BHA's, Retin-A, or ones of a mechanical nature.

To minimize the risk of the neuromodulator inadvertently migrating or absorbing into an adjacent muscle group, we recommend the following:

  • Avoid straining, lifting, and intense exercise for at least 4 hours post injection. We know that it takes approximately 2 hours for the medication to be absorbed from where it was placed and reach the nerve terminal where it can begin to do its work.
  • Avoid rubbing or manipulation of the area for at least 4 hours post injection.

Be sure to book your next appointment in 3-4 months to maintain your results.

If you have any questions or concerns after your treatment please call us to arrange assessment.

PRE-CARE / AFTER-CARE

DERMAL FILLER INJECTIONS

Please arrive to your appointment with a clean face. If your appointment is after work, expect your makeup to be removed in the treatment areas. Please plan on a recovery period of two weeks. Most of the anticipated swelling and bruising (if it occurs) happens in the 1-3 day period immediately after your injections.

Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Aleve, Motrin) and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • DO NOT STOP prescribed medications such as warfarin/coumadin or Plavix.
  • Avoid alcohol 72 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Get your exercise in for the day before your appointment.

After-Care

Immediately after your treatment you may notice some redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at the treated area. This is a normal response to treatment and it will disappear in a few days. If you are having discomfort you may take Tylenol as directed on the bottle.

To minimize swelling we recommend the following:

  • Apply an ice pack periodically to the treated area for 20 minutes. Repeat as desired after a 20 minute break.
  • You may want to take an over the counter antihistamine daily for 1-3 days as directed on the packaging. This can also help to reduce swelling. We recommend a non-drowsy daytime formula if working or operating machinery/a vehicle.
  • Avoid warm to hot temperatures such as hot baths, steam, hot tubs, hot yoga, or sun tanning while the area is red and/or swollen. Warm temperatures dilate the the blood vessels rushing more blood, heat, and swelling to the area.

To minimize potential bruising post treatment we recommend the following:

  • Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen and other NSAIDs the day of your treatment.

General care as follows:

  • Avoid heavy lifting, straining, vigorous exercise for the first 48 hours after treatment.
  • Do not apply make up for the first 24 hours after treatment. If you must, the makeup must be brand new/first use as old makeup harbors bacteria placing you at risk of seeding the bacteria into the dermal filler.
  • Avoid manipulation of the treated area. If there is a visible bump, do not massage. It is normal for dermal fillers to have lumps and bumps in the first two weeks. As they soften and integrate in to your tissues, these lumps will go away. Any lumps or bumps will be assessed at your two week follow up appointment.
  • Change your pillowcase to reduce the risk of bacterial infection at the site of injection.
  • While dental hygiene is important to your overall health, avoid routine dental procedures for two weeks post injection.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are not permanent. They will naturally degrade due to your body's enzymes and be resorbed. Your results are maintained by regular treatments over time. Be sure to book your next appointment as discussed with your injector. Recall appointment times will vary based on area treated and amount of product used.

PRE-CARE / AFTER-CARE

PRP INJECTIONS

Please arrive to your appointment with a clean face or freshly washed hair. If your appointment is after work, expect your makeup to be removed in the treatment areas.

Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Aleve, Motrin) and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • DO NOT STOP prescribed medications such as warfarin/coumadin or Plavix.
  • Avoid alcohol 72 hours and leading up to your appointment.

  • Avoid warm to hot temperatures such as hot baths, steam, hot tubs, hot yoga, or sun tanning while the area is red and/or swollen.

To minimize potential bruising post treatment we recommend the following:

  • Avoid alcohol, ibuprofen and other NSAIDs the day of your treatment.

General care as follows:

  • Do not wash your hair or face for the remainder of the day. Allow the PRP serum to penetrate until the next morning.
  • Do not apply medicated ointments to the areas. This will reduce the effectiveness of the growth factors. If your skin feels dry/tight after the treatment apply a moisturizer with no active ingredients.
  • Avoid heavy lifting, straining, vigorous exercise for the first 48 hours after treatment.
  • Platelets are active for up to 10 days post treatment. Avoid medicated cleansers, creams, mechanical exfoliants, AHA's, BHA's, Retin-A for 10 days post treatment to maximize the effectiveness of the PRP growth factors.

PRP takes time to produce results. You should not expect to see hair growth or changes in your facial tissues until after the 3rd treatment. Your results are maintained by one treatment approximately every 6 months. Be sure to book your next appointment as discussed with your injector. Recall appointment times will vary based on area treated.

If you have any questions or concerns after your treatment please call us to arrange assessment.
